Overview : Emulsion Fuel Technologies
Combustion of Fossil fuel in compression produces both NO and PM emissions. Fortunately, Emulsion fuel x
technology reduces both & increases fuel efficiency and decrease greenhouse gas emissions.
What is Emulsion?
Emulsion is a mixture of two immiscible fluids. For example, oil phased emulsion features water droplets - the
dispersed phase - uniformly distributed throughout the fuel oil - the continuous phase. An emulsion takes on the
characteristics of the continuous phase. Hence, oil phased emulsions exhibit characteristics of fuel oil, not water.
Generally, Emulsions are inherently unstable. Within a short time they separate into the stable states of the dispersed
and continuous phase materials. To maintain the composition of an emulsion, surface active agents, or “surfactants”,
are incorporated into the production of an oil phased emulsion.
In oil phased emulsion, these surfactant agents encase the droplets of water distributed throughout the continuous
oil phase and prevent the water droplets from coming together and coalescing.
FuelTech Proprietary Emulsion Technology
FuelTech proprietary technology creates stable mixtures of emulsified fuels, which contain varying
percentages of water content. The emulsion technology is applied to bind various base fuels with water that create a
wide array of environmentally friendly fuel that reduce both oxides of nitrogen (NO ) & particulate matter (PM) x
pollution created during the combustion process. The technology is delivered through a unique & intimate
understanding of the critical components of emulsified fuel production.
Components of producing an Emulsified Fuels
The production of emulsion fuel involves the use of chemical additive, a mechanical blending process and the
proprietary technology. The precise combination & application of these components, produce emulsion fuels that
are robust and stable, and are able to tolerate the enormous heat and pressure to which fuels are subjected prior to
combustion in furnace or boiler. The unique combustion characteristics of emulsion fuels only occur if it remains
stable at the point of combustion. InFuel™ produces very reliable stable emulsion fuels of consistent quality and
standard.
FuelTech Blending Unit
Blending units required for the production of various petroleum based fuel oil emulsions are vastly different in design
and application. InFuel™ Emulsion equipment Blending Units are generally automated self-contained units that
consist of a series of mixers, motors, pumps, meters and injectors, in which water, Base Fuel and InFuel™ propriety
Additive are processed.
